The new museum Storyworld might be the youngest comic, animation and games museum in the Netherlands, but that does not make it less cool or fun, on the contrary. The museum takes visitors of all ages into the world of storytelling. Here you can discover what it takes to understand a graphic story, and you can even play around and create one yourself.
The museum has an extensive, contemporary collection of works in the domain of comics, animation and games. This includes cartoon storyboards, animated film props and games. Part of its collection the museum inherited from the Nederlands Stripmuseum, which closed in early 2019.

Even though the Forum already opened in November 2019, the Storyworld opened its doors a little later, on the 11th of January 2020. Special guests were present, such as Aladdin, Spider-Man, Lucky Luke and the artist Lois van Baarle, also known as Loish. At the opening you could be part of various workshops, stamp buttons or watch Loish draw.
Special room for exhibitions
Several times per year you will be able to see new exhibitions at the museum. Since the exhibitions are displayed inside Storyworld, your ticket to the museum will also grant you access to the exhibition.
From the 11th of January until the 5th of April the Art of Loish is exhibited at the Storyworld. She contributed to animated films and computer games (e.g. Horizon Zero Dawn). However she gained her greatest success with non-commissioned work, often featuring young women. You can check out her art at loish.net

The museum is able to teach you quite a lot about comics, animation and games. You do not have to be an expert in any of those mediums to understand what is being explained. The best part is always learning by doing and that is exactly what the museum is best at. Each medium starts with an introduction and ends with games in which you can use what you just learned. This is fun for both, kids and adults. Most of the time spend here is actually used on the games. If you choose just to read the texts you are done rather quickly. There are simply so many opportunities. You can make your own stop-motion video or you can add your own sound effects to a scene from Wallace and Gromit. And these are only two examples. We guarantee you, this is fun!
