In an area of more than 1 hectare behind the Mediacentrale and along the Winschoterdiep, the Municipality of Groningen, together with the Noorderpoort, has built the Europapark Sports Center. Since the summer of 2017, a sports center with outdoor sports facilities has been built on the former training location of FC Groningen. The sports center has been in use since the autumn of 2018. The sports facilities were developed and operated by the municipality and Noorderpoort.
