The Hortus is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Netherlands. On a land of more than twenty hectares, there is a lot to discover for young and old, such as the unique Chinese Ming Garden, the Hondsrugtuin and the ecological Laarmantuin. The highlight is formed by the rock garden. Visitors can wander through the gardens alone or be guided.
Culture lovers can also enjoy the gardens: Festivals and other activities take place regularly. From mid-May to the end of September, an annual sculpture exhibition is organized. There is also plenty to experience for children, for example a scavenger hunts.
The restaurant ‘De novo Plantage’ and the Chinese Tea House ‘Moaning the Dragon’ are both very suitable for celebrating parties and organizing business meetings. The Hortus café and a shop are both located at the entrance hall.
