About this event

The Liberation Festival takes place on Liberation Day. This has been a national holiday since 1990. The end of the occupation by Nazi Germany during the Second World War is commemorated and celebrated on this day. After liberation in 1945, liberation was celebrated every five years, but nowadays it is celebrated annually.

The festival offers a varied programme with performances by local and national artists on various stages. From energetic bands to singer-songwriters and DJs, there is music for everyone to enjoy.

The Liberation Festival is more than just a celebration. It is a moment to reflect on the importance of freedom and solidarity. The atmosphere of togetherness and respect for diversity is what makes this festival so special.

Come to the Groningen Liberation Festival and celebrate freedom on a day full of fun, music and inspiration. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to participate in this special event.
