With the weather getting nicer and nicer, the terraces in Groningen are filling up again, and everyone is looking for the best spot. There are many terraces in Groningen, but which ones actually get the most sun? We have compiled a list for you so that you can enjoy the city’s sunniest terraces all day long.
You will find Eetcafé Zondag in the middle of the Noorderplantsoen. The terrace overlooks the park and is the perfect place to spend time on a sunny day. You can sit in the sun here from morning till evening. With a location just a five-minute walk from the city center, you can escape the daily hustle and bustle here, surrounded by greenery.

At Café Willem Albert, you can also enjoy a bite to eat and a drink in the sun. On the terrace on Grote Markt, you can sit for hours surrounded by the lively hustle and bustle of the city. You can visit daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks, right in the heart of the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
At the Harbour Café, you sit on a spacious terrace right by the water. Just outside the busiest streets of Groningen, boats sail peacefully in and out of the harbor here, so there is always something to see! From Tuesday to Sunday, you can enjoy drinks and dinner here, including on the terrace where you can enjoy the sun all day long.
On the terrace of Mr. Mofongo you can enjoy a delicious lunch, an extensive dinner, homemade cocktails, or just a good cup of coffee. You can sit in the sun here from morning until early evening.

At De Graansilo, they also have a spacious terrace right on the water, with sun all day long and a view over the Winschoterdiep. From Tuesday to Sunday, you are welcome here from 11:00 for a cup of coffee, a delicious lunch, drinks, or an extensive dinner. And of course, not to forget: the home-brewed Graansilo beer.
Along the Gedempte Zuiderdiep, you can find many nice cafes and restaurants with lovely terraces. On the side facing the city center, they get sun all day long! This is the perfect place to stop for a moment on a sunny day and enjoy a delicious drink in the sun.
At the Pomphuis, you can also relax on the sunny terrace. This former pump house is located on the canal, where boats regularly pass by. From opening time until sunset, you can enjoy the sunshine here every day starting at 11:00 a.m.

Dokjard is located in an old warehouse on the canal, just 50 meters from Noorderplantsoen. In this beautiful building, they brew their own beers and serve international cuisine with a unique twist. From Monday through Saturday, you can enjoy drinks or dinner here, including on the terrace, where you can sit in the sun almost all day long.
Paviljoen Sterrebos is an oasis of tranquility in the south of the city of Groningen, nestled in a unique green area. Consequently, the terrace enjoys sun almost all day long and is surrounded by rare flora. The perfect place to unwind in the sun.

As you gaze out over the waters of the Diepenring, you can enjoy the sunshine at Vandeeg Vandaag. Here, they bake artisanal pastries and bread using local ingredients and seasonal produce. From Tuesday through Sunday, take a seat on the sunny terrace and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and a freshly baked sandwich or pastry.
At Café de Sigaar, you can enjoy views of the canal and the historic warehouses along the A. From around 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM, you can relax in the sun on the terrace. Café de Sigaar is open all day: in the morning for a good cup of coffee, at noon for lunch, and in the evening for dinner or a drink with friends.

Hemingway’s is open daily from 5:00 PM; here you can enjoy delicious tapas and Cuban-style cocktails. You can also enjoy these on the terrace, where you can relax in the evening sun along the Gedempte Kattendiep.
