The Zuidelijke Ringweg is about twelve kilometers long and runs right through the city of Groningen, from Hoogkerk to Westerbroek. The road is important for the traffic to and from the city, but also for the traffic that passes through Groningen.
The Zuidelijke Ringweg will be completely overhauled in the coming years. This change must ensure a more accessible city and region. The road will have extra lanes and other entrances and exits. The traffic lights at the busy Julianaplein junction will disappear. And part of the road will be laid deeper, so space can be created for a new park.
