De Nieuwe Kerk is a Protestant church north of the city centre of Groningen. The name is a reference to the old Sint-Walburg church. In the eighteenth century the church was also called Noorderkerk. The church is situated at the Nieuwe Kerkhof. Originally the graveyard was called Nieuwe Sint-Walburgkerkhof. The church stands on the northernmost hill of the Hondsrug.
