On Friday, April 3, 2026, the largest flower and plant market in the northern Netherlands will take place, as is tradition. The Annual Flower Market—popularly known as the Flower Market—attracts more than 100,000 visitors every year.
In the city center of Groningen, more than a hundred market vendors offer their wares. Fresh cut flowers, large and small houseplants, flower bulbs and seeds, garden and container plants, tools and accessories: you can find almost anything here.
There are stalls and activities from Oude Ebbingestraat to the Grote Markt, the Nieuwe Markt, and the A-Kerkhof. No matter from which direction you approach Groningen, you can smell spring in the air almost immediately.
To browse around without having to lug your purchases around, you can use the free flower depot on the Grote Markt. Between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., you can safely leave your purchases here and pick them up again at the end of the day.
