Sports Bar de Groote Griet is located on the south side of the Grote Markt in the heart of Groningen. Since the opening in 1976, the interior has not changed much over the years. All the bar plates and advertisements are evidence of its history. With 11 TVs and two projector screens, Sports Bar de Groote Griet has the possibility to broadcast almost everything that can be imagined in terms of sports. A good conversation at the bar with one of the many specialty beers in your hand, or a beer enjoyed in anonymity are reasons for which many Stadjers, but also (international) students and expats are staying in “de Griet”. This somewhat remarkable mishmash comes together on a Saturday afternoon to watch football, where all competitions are followed right through each other.
