Bomba is an Italian sandwich shop on the Rademarkt in Groningen, opened by Niels and Valeria Hofstede, the duo behind restaurant 47 Anno Domini. The inspiration for Bomba came to Sicily during their honeymoon, when they saw a food truck on the beach where young and old gathered for simple yet delicious food. They wanted to bring that carefree, convivial atmosphere to Groningen.
During the day, you can visit Bomba for authentic Italian sandwiches and snacks. Think of sandwiches with salsiccia (a spicy Italian sausage pressed into a toasted bun), schiacciata topped with, for example, grilled vegetables or porchetta, and traditional arancini, risotto balls flown in specially from Sicily for the most authentic flavor. Those with a sweet tooth will also be satisfied with cannoli filled with fresh ricotta and pasticciotti with custard.
The name says it all: “Bomba!” is what Italians shout when the food is truly amazing. With their passion for Italian cuisine, from Sicily to Florence, Niels and Valeria are eager to turn that promise into practice.
