About Groninger Museum

Opposite the main station of Groningen is The Groninger Museum, a striking building designed by the Italian architect Mendini. The current Groninger Museum building was opened in 1994 by Queen Beatrix. To this day, the design has given rise to discussion about modern museum architecture.

You can find a wide variety of art in the museum. The permanent collection consists of art by artist collective De Ploeg and Chinese and Japanese porcelain. New exhibitions and interaction with the visitor are of great importance for the museum.

The Groninger Museum is the museum for art, design and art history in Groningen.
