When you're in Groningen, there's one thing you really can't miss: a visit to the Martini Tower. Enjoy the beautiful view of the city from above and look straight down onto the Grote Markt. Come face to face with the vaults of the Martini Church, centuries-old ornaments, the heavy bells, or the giant flagpoles. Do you dare to climb the highest tower in the city?
The Martini Tower, also known as ‘d’Olle Grieze’, is the tallest tower in Groningen at 96.8 meters. Climbing the Martini Tower requires some perseverance: it has almost 300 steps, but the climb to the top is more than worth it. At the very top, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Groningen and the surrounding area. As you stand between the faces of the clock, you can hear the people on the Grote Markt below you and the seagulls above you.
On your way up, you will pass numerous special sights: the vaults of the Martini Church, centuries-old ornaments, the heavy bells, and giant flagpoles. At a height of around 39 meters, you can step outside and walk around the tower. Here you will also find a small cinema, where you can watch a short film about the history of Groningen through the eyes of the tower. In short, a visit to the Martini Tower is more than just a viewpoint. It is a unique experience!
Pick up your admission token at the Groningen Store in Forum Groningen or pay by debit card at the turnstile at the bottom of the tower.
