Coming week from Wednesday (15.01.2020) until Saturday (18.01.2020) ESNS will be back in Groningen to celebrate upcoming international music artists. During the day international music conferences will take place. During the four nights around 350 artists will perform in more than 40 venues around the city.

Last year 42.789 visitors from 44 different nationalities visited the festival and watched 342 acts perform in 42 different Eurosonic avenues and in 10 Noorderslag avenues. Nevertheless more are expected this year. Over the years the festival has been responsible for kick-starting international careers for several artists: Bastille, Dua Lipa, Aurora and Bishop Briggs are just some of them.

Eurosonic and Noorderslag

Eurosonic will take place from Wednesday until Friday. European acts will perform in over 40 different locations. On Saturday only Dutch artists will perform at the Noorderslag. Throughout the festival some artists will be rewarded with different Awards. They can win the “Music Moves Europe Talent Award”, the “Eurpean Festival Award”, the “Popprijs”, “Ijzeren Podiumdieren”, “Pop Media Prijs”, “Popgala Noord” and “De Veer”.

The creator’s goal of this non-profit organisation is to bring together European artists and help them to achieve their dream of an international career.

The international music conferences

The conferences will be held at De Oosterpoort, in the conference centre. Participants will learn more about the latest developments in the European and international music, media, production and interactive industry in the form of 150 different panels, keynotes, interviews, workshops, dinners, pitches, presentations and meetings.

Eurosonic Air & ESNS ART

Another great opportunity for those who can’t be part of the festival is “Eurosonic Air”. At Eurosonic Air different artists will perform on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for free at the Grote Markt.

ESNS also thought of all the art fans in Groningen. Throughout the four days, Art will be presented in numerous ways and locations all over the binnenstad.

Good to know

As a student you also get the choice of buying an “Academy Ticket”. With that ticket you can attend several workshops and the festival on Thursday.  Furthermore as a visitor it is important to know that this event is mostly cashless. Only a few venues will accept cash or card, the festival uses a chargeable wristband.

Last but not least, there is only one thing left to ask:
Are you already counting down the seconds until Wednesday?
